NANUET STREET FAIR A MAJOR HIT

Letter from Chamber President Risa Hoag to the Community

To the Editor,

DSC_0553 IMAG0505 14189923158_228fe7a341_zI would like to personally thank everyone who was involved with making the Nanuet Chamber of Commerce inaugural Street Fair such an enormous success! We had hoped for 100 vendors, we had 175! We hoped we would see 3,000 visitors throughout the day, estimates are that 12,000 people came through our fair! Some of the vendors had never done a Street Fair before and all expressed their gratitude and appreciation for what was a highly successful event. The feedback from attendees was amazing and is still coming in from all over the county! Everyone wanted to know why we waited so long and when was the next one!

The fair could not have been so successful with the dedication and hard work of many individuals who I would like to recognize here:

Joe Brunelli who originated the idea of the Street Fair, Susan Farese who worked tireless with Clarkstown and coordinated the entertainment for the day, George Mollo, Eric Graff, and Kevin Hardy, Michael Kitt who did anything and everything asked, Nicholas Miller who hand crafted all of the sandwich board signs, Jackie Cassagnol, Linda Stankard, Jim Flynn, Jim Fay, Dan Lombardo, Roy Giampiccolo, Tony Pallogudis who helped out with all the details on planning the event and all their work on the day of the event.

Also, Valerie Moldow, head of the Nanuet Civic Association, for her support before the event and on the day of the event, Rand Realty for allowing us to use their parking lot and electric, and Keep Rockland Beautiful for supplying us with everything we needed to clean up during and after the event.

The Street Fair would not have been possible without the support from Town Supervisor Alex Gromack and the team at the Town of Clarkstown who bent over backwards to ensure that this street fair would be as successful as possible. A big thank you to County Executive Ed Day who showed up bright and early to welcome visitors and kick off the Fair from the main stage.

Plus the amazing Clarkstown Police Department, who were on hand all day directing traffic, answering questions and fortunately didn’t have to handle even one negative incident! Thanks also to the Nanuet Fire Department and the Nanuet Ambulance Corp. for their help before and on the day of the event, and also to the other area chambers for their support and insight.

Thanks to our t-shirt sponsors and Boy Scouts Troop 33 who helped with clean up, and to all of our sponsors, and an enormous thank you to the 180 vendors who showed up and were able to showcase their services and products to attendees. And an even bigger thank you to all the area residents who came out to experience the first Nanuet Fair! More than 12,000 of you came out with your families to enjoy the day! Wow! We are very grateful!

We are looking forward to an even bigger event next year and we have plenty of surprises and new ideas already in the planning stages!! Want to get involved? Just visit www.nanuetchamber.com and join us at our next meeting.

Sincerely,

Risa B. Hoag
President, Greater Nanuet Chamber of Commerce
