On May 28, 2014 at approximately 5:15 p.m. the Clarkstown Police Department responded to a report of possible fraud at the Verizon Wireless Store, located at the Palisades Mall. Jose Amparo, 44, of Bronx, NY attempted to purchase 2 iphones using a Maryland driver’s license and another individual’s account number. After a brief investigation it was determined that Jose Amparo was using numerous drivers’ licenses and credit cards that were fraudulent. Amparo was arrested and charged with criminal possession of forged instrument 2nd (felony), criminal possession of stolen property 4th (felony), identity theft 1st (felony), grand larceny 4th (felony) and forgery 2nd (felony). Amparo was arraigned in Clarkstown Justice Court. There was no bail set and he was remanded to the Rockland County Jail and is due to return to court on June 2, 2014.
