CHILDSAFE: Free Abduction Prevention Seminar at Tiger Schulmann’s Nanuet

On Saturday, May 17, Tiger Schulmann’s Mixed Martial Arts of Nanuet will be hosting a free Child Abduction Prevention Seminar for parents and children of the community. The seminar will focus on teaching children basic abduction prevention skills, through a combination of ‘do and don’t’ situation skits, and through discussions about strangers, avoidance, code words and escape techniques.

Instruction will also be given on what to do (and not to do) when at home alone (especially crucial for latchkey children). Parents will also be coached on the importance of educating their children on identifying potentially dangerous situations and in teaching them how to react.

“With kids now out of school for summer vacation and the increasing concern about child safety in our communities, we feel it’s important to do what we can to teach children basic abduction prevention principles,” said Joshu Jared Salzman, owner of Tiger Schulmann’s Mixed Martial Arts of Nanuet. “We hope that these seminars will heighten children’s ability to recognize these types of situations, as well as teach them how to avoid and if necessary, escape them.”

This free Abduction Prevention Seminar is part of the Tiger Schulmann’s CHILDSAFE Program, established in 1992 as a program designed to teach awareness about child safety, and to encourage communication between parents and children about these vital issues.

The seminar is set for Saturday, May 17 from 12 noon to 2 p.m. at the Nanuet Tiger Schulmann’s Mixed Martial Arts center located at 428 Nanuet Mall South right behing the Macy’s at the Shops of Nanuet.
