Driver’s identity released in accident that claimed life of Christian Ascolese

Stony Point PD has informed the public that Anthony Simini, 21, of West Haverstraw, was the driver of the car that careened out of control on Gate Hill Road in Stony Point around 3 p.m. on Wednesday. The accident claimed the life of his friend, 21-year-old Stony Pointer Christian Ascolese.

Police have not determined a cause of the accident and are working to reconstruct details of what happened. As is customary in accident cases, police are testing the driver’s blood for any signs of intoxication.

Two other passengers in the car were taken to Nyack Hospital and released with minor injuries, police reported. Their identities have not been released to the public.
