On Saturday, March 22 at approximately 12:40 p.m. Clarkstown Police responded to a complaint of a stolen cell phone in Central Nyack. The 22-year-old female victim of the theft alleged her friend Michael Beauvais, 27, of Lake St., Spring Valley, gave her a hug and snagged the phone right out of her pocket.

The suspect fled the scene on foot and was apprehended by Clarkstown Police within a few minutes after canvassing the area with the victim. Police said the victim’s cell phone was found in his possession.

Beauvais was then charged with grand larceny in the fourth degree and criminal possession of stolen property.  He was arraigned before Clarkstown Town Justice Rolf Thorsen and was held on $1,000 bail.
