STONY POINT CRIMES 3/24/14

JASTROWISSUING A BAD CHECK & CRIMINAL POSSESSION OF STOLEN PROPERTY
Elaina Jastrow, age 31, residing at 43 Greywood Dr., Orangeburg, NY, was arrested on March 5, 2014 for issuing a bad check, petit larceny and criminal possession of stolen property in the fifth degree. The defendant was arrested after a warrant investigation revealed the defendant had an active bench warrant out of Stony Point for listed charges. The defendant was arrested, processed and released on $5,000 cash bail and is to re-appear at a later date.

 

cernaCRIMINAL MISCHIEF & IDENTITY THEFT
Edgardo Cerna, age 58, residing at 16 North Liberty Dr., Stony Point, NY, was arrested on March 21, 2014 for criminal mischief in the second degree and identity theft in the first degree. The defendant was arrested after a warrant investigation revealed the defendant had two active felony warrants issued by the Rockland County Court for listed charges. The defendant was arrested, processed and remanded to the Rockland County correctional Facility pending a hearing at a later date.

AGGRAVATED UNLICENSED OPERATION
Imisly Torres, age 22, residing at 92 Railroad Ave., Apt. 2, Garnerville, NY, was arrested on March 20, 2014 for aggravated unlicensed operation in the third degree. The defendant was arrested after a vehicle and traffic stop revealed that he was operating a motor vehicle while his NYS DLIC was suspended for failure to answer summons. The defendant was arrested, processed and released on several traffic tickets returnable April 17, 2014 at 1:30 p.m.

AGGRAVATED UNLICENSED OPERATION
Christian Evangelista, age 25, residing at 21 Orchard St., Spring Valley, NY, was arrested on March 20, 2014 for aggravated unlicensed operation in the third degree. The defendant was arrested after a vehicle and traffic stop revealed that he was wanted on an active Bench Warrant out of Ramapo for listed charge. The defendant was arrested, processed and released to the Ramapo Police Department after being issued several traffic tickets returnable May 6, 2014 at 9 a.m.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT
Michael C. Eanes, age 27, residing at 28 Peddler Hill Apt. 2803, Monroe, NY, was arrested on March 8, 2014 for disorderly conduct. The defendant was arrested after a vehicle and traffic stop where the defendant became disorderly after being issued UTT’s. The defendant was arrested, processed and released on several traffic tickets returnable and an appearance ticket returnable March 18, 2014 at 1:30 p.m.

SUSPENDED REGISTRATION
Christopher Roberts, age 25, residing at 287 Grandview Ave., Suffern, NY, was arrested on March 5, 2014 for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended registration. The defendant was arrested after a vehicle and traffic stop revealed that the registration of the vehicle he was operating was suspended for an insurance lapse. The defendant was arrested, processed and released after being issued several traffic tickets returnable April 3, 2014 at 1:30 p.m.

AGGRAVATED UNLICENSED OPERATION
John G. Gorman, age 49, residing at 2 Roosevelt Dr., West Haverstraw, NY, was arrested on March 18, 2104 for aggravated unlicensed operation in the third degree and numerous other vehicle and traffic offenses. The defendant was arrested following a vehicle and traffic stop, which revealed the defendant was operating a motor vehicle while his privilege to do so was suspended x4. In addition, the defendant was unlicensed. The defendant was arrested, processed and issued numerous traffic tickets returnable in Stony Point Justice Court on May 6, 2014 at 9 a.m.

UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA
Gabriel DeFrank, age 23, residing at 11 Georgian Dr., Stony Point, NY, was arrested on March 14, 2014 for unlawful possession of marijuana. The defendant was arrested following an accident investigation where the defendant was a passenger. Further investigation revealed the defendant did possess a quantity of marijuana. The defendant was arrested, processed and issued an appearance ticket returnable in Stony Point Justice Court on April 15, 2015 at 1:30 p.m.

ROBBERY INVESTIGATION

The Stony Point Police Department is investigating a home invasion that occurred on March 14, 2014 at approximately 11 p.m. at the Knights Corner Senior complex off of Tomkins Ave. The victim alleged that the suspect forcibly entered his residence, subjected him to physical contact by punching him several times and subsequently removed a laptop computer from his home upon exiting. The victim did not suffer any injuries. The suspect, described as a Hispanic male approximately 5’8’’, 160 lbs, left the area by unknown means. The Stony Point Police Department was assisted by the Haverstraw Town Police K-9 unit during the initial search for the suspect, and the Rockland County Sheriff’s BCI unit during the early stages of the investigation.
