Variety is the spice of slice: Spring Valley pizzeria presents new cheeseburger pizza

P1000640SPRING VALLEY – Deliziosa Pizza in the Spring Valley Marketplace is a relatively small establishment, but its distinct New York style and slice variety have earned it some broad attention.

Deliziosa’s standout slice is the cheeseburger pizza, which includes ground beef and fresh tomatoes over cheese. The menu selection has already turned heads.

According to Deliziosa owner Salvatore Luppino, the new combination began in his own home kitchen. “One day I was having a burger at home and I figured, ‘Why can’t I put it on a pizza?’” Luppino explained.

Luppino, a Queens native who has owned pizza shops in Manhassett, Long Island and Manhattan, set up shop in Spring Valley shortly after moving his residence to Pomona four years ago. The restauraunt is a family-owned and operated business, with Luppino working alongside his daughter Francesca Marcella.

According to Luppino, the popularity of the cheeseburger pizza is no accident, as he always tries to use the best quality ingredients in his food. “They like it because I use good beef,” Luppino said. “Everything is fresh.”

Since its opening, Deliziosa has specialized in pizza toppings as adventurous as pasta with clam sauce and fettucine alfredo. The restauraunt also includes other non-traditional combinations, with buffalo chicken and chicken caesar slices all available.
