Larkin receives Legislator of the Year award from the American Heart Association

(03-12-14)39-10-014Senator Bill Larkin (R-C, Cornwall-on-Hudson) has been named Legislator of the Year by the American Heart Association. Senator Larkin received the award at a ceremony held in Albany for his work on the Pulse Oximetry legislation.

“This award means more to me than I can say,” said Senator Larkin. “The Pulse Oximetry legislation will save the lives of newborns by ensuring congenital heart defects are detected and treated before they can cause a life-threatening problem. It was an honor to be a part of this effort and I thank the American Heart Association and the many families for their tremendous support on behalf of this legislation.”

The Pulse Oximetry legislation took effect on January 27, 2014.
