NEW GENERATION THEATRE ANNOUNCES REGISTRATION FOR HAIRSPRAY

New City, NY – March 12, 2014: The New Generation Theatre, Rockland’s premiere theatre company for young performers, is currently accepting registration for its 2014 summer theatre production of Hairspray. Directed by Sol Bloch and Justin Boccitto, NGT strives to provide sophisticated musical productions for serious-minded students looking to further their singing, acting, and dancing skills.

The program is open to students in Grades 8-12 and will run June 30 through August 9, Mondays-Wednesdays, from 6:30 – 10 p.m.; performances August 7, 8 and 9; auditions June 20 and 21. Students also participate in seminars led by Broadway performers. Performances of Hairspray will take place at Fieldstone’s state-of-the-art theater in Thiells, NY.

Hairspray marks NGT’s fourth summer production with past credits including: “The Who’s Tommy,” “Urinetown” and the acclaimed production of “Les Miserables: School Edition.” Theatre critic, Peter Filichia, said of the production “On a scale from zero to a hundred, I’d rank this production at 24,601.”

Bloch and Boccitto also utilize their connections on Broadway, bringing in special guests to conduct seminars with the students. Some past speakers have included Adam Chandler-Berat (Next To Normal, Peter and the Starcatcher) and Michael MacDonald (Les Miserables, Memphis).
