UntitledThe Bergen-Rockland Chapter of the National Railroad Historical Society (NRHS) will hold its monthly meeting Friday, March 14 at 8 p.m. at the Closter Senior Citizen Center in downtown Closter, behind the borough hall.

The meeting is free and open to the public, and will feature the club’s annual photo contest in which members submit railroad-related photographs they have taken which are judged in several different categories. Prizes are awarded for the top prizewinners, and refreshments are shared with all.

The club will also discuss upcoming railroad-related events and activities coming up in the next few months such as railfan trips, model train shows, equipment sales and meetings, all of which members enjoy attending.

Program chair for the photo contest is John Lock III. President Don says the club’s next meeting will be on Friday, April 11 and will feature an illustrated talk by Doug Bennington on electric rail operations in Denver, Philadelphia, Scranton and the New York-New Jersey area.

The club’s annual dinner meeting will be Friday, May 2 at Madelein’s Restaurant in Northvale, just across the border from Tappan.

The club also publishes a monthly newsletter called “The Stoker” which will feature potential railfan trips for the members to enjoy as group outings in the April issue.
