Garnerville man arrested in Stony Point for cocaine possession

Michael Monroe, 37-years-old, of 39 High St. in Garnerville was arrested Tuesday, March 4 in Stony Point on charges of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, criminally using drug paraphernalia in the second degree, possession of a forged instrument and aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle in the third degree, all misdemeanors.

Monroe was arrested after a vehicle and traffic stop revealed he was wanted on an active warrant out of the Town of Haverstraw for unlicensed operation of a vehicle. Following the initial arrest on this warrant, Stony Point police said the defendant was found to be in possession of a bag of cocaine and a digital scale. Police also said Monroe possessed a fake Pennsylvania driver’s license.

He was arrested on the several counts, processed, arraigned and remanded to the Rockland County Correctional Facility. He is due back in Stony Point Justice Court on Tuesday, March 11.
