Portions of the proceeds from the seventh annual Penguin Plunge benefit fundraiser in Nyack this year will go to two local youngsters who have suffered from severe health problems. Those children will get help with their medical bills from money raised when hardy adults voluntarily take a winter dip into the frigid Hudson River in Nyack on March 2 at Memorial Park from noon to 2 p.m.

This year’s Plunge is to benefit Danny van Schaik and Sangeetha John. Danny, a 7th grader at Suffern Middle School, has been enduring rigorous treatment for Leukemia. Sangeetha, a Tappan Zee High School senior, continues to receive treatment for an inoperable brain tumor.

Donations can be made to the Penguin Plunge, Inc., 150 Hoover St., Blauvelt, N.Y. 10913. The Penguin Plunge, Inc. is a 501c3 non-profit organization.
