Traffic Delay Caused by Train Crossing Malfunction in Airmont

On Tuesday night a malfunction in the railroad crossing lights and sound at the intersection of Airmont Rd. caused a traffic delay.

Around 9:30 p.m. the railroad lights and bells triggered when a Norfolk Southern Railroad freight train heading eastbound crossed the intersection. However, in this instance, the lights and audible signal did not turn off as they should and the police were called in to deal with the situation.

Fortunately the police were able to direct traffic and keep any traffic delays to a minimum. A Norfolk Southern repair crew arrived and fixed the malfunction by 10:45 p.m.
