NYGOP Announces New Executive Director

Following the departure of Rockland County’s own Michael Lawler, the New York Republican State Committee today announced that Finance Director Jason Weingartner will serve as the party’s executive director. Lawler is leaving to pursue opportunities as a campaign consultant for gubernatorial candidate Rob Astorino.

“I am thrilled that Jason has agreed to serve as executive director,” said NYGOP Chair Ed Cox. “As finance director and a valued senior advisor, Jason was an integral part of our success over the last four years, as the state party raised over $13 million and restored the Republican Party as New York’s foremost political force for freedom, opportunity, economic growth, lower taxes, fiscal responsibility and limited government.”

“I would like to thank Michael Lawler for his extraordinary record of success as the state party’s executive director. During Mike’s tenure at the state party, we regained a leadership role in the State Senate, expanded our Assembly Republican caucus, increased our Congressional delegation from two to six and last year won sweeping victories in two to one Democratic Westchester, Rockland and Erie counties, in two to one Democratic Binghamton and in all seven county executive races.”

“I am honored to accept Chairman Cox’s appointment as executive director,” said Weingartner. “2014 will be a banner year for the Republican Party in New York, as we expand our House delegation and Assembly caucus and win statewide offices and an outright majority in the State Senate.”

A Queens native and graduate of Fordham University and Fordham Law School, Weingartner has previously served as executive director of the New York County Republican Committee and in 2013 was elected chairman of the Young Republican National Federation.

Jason has worked directly with a wide array of Republican candidates, elected officials and entities and is an adjunct professor at Fordham University’s Graduate School for Campaigns and Elections.

NYGOP Coalition’s Director Ore Jacinto will serve as the party’s new finance director and Asian Outreach Director Oliver Tan will take over as Coalitions director.
