College Road Turns into Ice Street

During Tuesday’s snow storm at approximately 4:35 p.m. a driver careened off snowy College Road at its intersection with Viola Road in Ramapo and ran into a fire hydrant, causing a 25 foot high explosive stream of water. As you can imagine, the frosty temps immediately turned the burst hydrant into an ice machine, and a large slick of pure slippery mayhem developed.

The authorities were forced to temporarily close the intersection while United Water responded to the scene to shut down and repair the hydrant.
