TUESDAY RANKS AS #2 O&R WINTER ELECTRIC DEMAND DAY

Electricity demand by O&R customers Tuesday broke the record for the second highest winter weekday peak in the company’s history, the company reports.

Strong, frigid winds and bitter cold conspired to push electric demand on Jan. 7 to a peak of 966 MW at 7 p.m. The top winter all-time weekday peak electric demand record is 1,000 MW, which was set on Dec. 20, 2004 at 7 p.m.

The top all-time electric demand day in O&R history was Aug. 2, 2006 with a peak demand of 1,617 MW at 5 p.m.
