ST. DOM’S HOME CELEBRATES 135 YEARS OF BETTERING LIVES

BLAUVELT – Saint Dominic’s Home Executive Director Judith Kydon cuts a special anniversary cake celebrating the agency’s 135th anniversary on Nov. 5. Mrs. Kydon is joined by Anthony N., who is under the care of Saint Dominic’s Home, and Associate Executive Director Ruth Ramirez, at an employee celebratory reception. Saint Dominic’s Home is a Catholic agency headquartered in Blauvelt, N.Y., and was founded in 1878 by a very dedicated and determined Dominican Sister, Mother Mary Ann Sammon, who began Saint Dominic’s Home as a safe haven for immigrant children who had been abandoned on the streets of New York City. Saint Dominic’s Home is one of Rockland County’s oldest establishments and still operates where the agency was founded. Today, the nonprofit human services agency provides 40 human services and programs to nearly 1,800 individuals, many of whom are children, and families of all backgrounds that are developmentally disabled, socially disadvantaged and, or, vocationally challenged in the Lower Hudson Valley and the Bronx.
