At the Rockland County Fire Chief’s Association held at the Pearl River Hook & Ladder Company on Thursday September 19, 2013; the Pearl River Fire Department was presented an Honor Award for their heroic service during Hurricane Sandy on October 29, 2012.

The Pearl River Fire Department along with the Rockland County Regional Technical Rescue and Pearl River Ambulance responded to a large tree on a house with structural collapse and persons trapped. The units worked together to stabilize the situation to gain access to assist in removing the occupants, unfortunately one of the occupants died during the collapse.
