Judy Gold Started Career In College as an Initiation Prank

BY GEORGE J. DACRE

urlIt was a Secret Santa assignment to do stand up comedy in college back in the 1980s that gave the comedienne her start in show business and she has been doing her one woman shows since then. Judy Gold will bring that show to Rockland Community College September 7, presented by Penguin Repertory Theatre of Stony Point.

Gold teams with Irish Kate Moira Ryan of Yonkers, in producing the shows labeld 25 Questions to a Jewish Mother. Gold herself is a Jewish mom with two children and puts her show together based on interviews with American Jewish women all across the country, collaborating with Ryan in the writing of the act being presented at RCC.

Asked what is an American Jewish mother, Gold tells the Rockland County Times there are many different types from all walks of life. She and Ryan really work well together, Gold said, and have performed in many shows off Broadway in New York City. Gold was recently featured on Rosie O’Donnell’s radio talk show.
