Stephen R. Brown, president & Chief Executive Officer of Hudson Valley Bank, has announced the appointment of William (Bill) E. Sherwood, retired NYS Supreme Court Justice and former Stony Point town supervisor, as a business consultant to Hudson Valley Bank.
Judge Sherwood served throughout the Ninth Judicial District’s five counties for 14 years. He then served as the supervisor of Stony Point from 2010-2012. Judge Sherwood started a Rockland County based law practice in 1970 and today continues to serve the legal profession as an independent and impartial mediator and arbitrator in both the private and public sectors.
Born and raised in Rockland County, Judge Sherwood is a graduate of New York Law School, and Syracuse University. Bill and his wife Susan have three children, and reside in Stony Point. Active in the Rockland County community, he serves on the boards of the Rockland County Bar Association, the Rockland County Historical Society and the Rockland Community Foundation.
He is also a member and former President of the Spring Valley Rotary and is particularly proud of his membership in the Stony Point Battle Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution, a nationwide organization of men who can trace their ancestry to our country’s first soldiers. Judge Sherwood served in the military and was honorably discharged from the New York State National Guard and the U.S. Army Reserves.
“We are thrilled that Judge Sherwood has accepted an offer to assist the Hudson Valley Bank team in our continued development of the Rockland County market,” remarked Mr. Brown. “Hudson Valley Bank is truly the last real community bank in Rockland County and Bill is a reflection of that local commitment.”
