PONG SPORT MAKES APPEARANCE IN ROCKLAND COUNTY

pastedGraphic (2)A competitive tour for a new sport based on the party competition “beer pong,” but without the beer, is stopping in two locations at Rockland this week.

Pongball is a sport played on a nine foot table with 10 cups set up on each side in a pyramid format. The sport involves strategy, hand eye coordination and teamwork. Each team has two players on opposing sides of the table. The object of the game is to sink the opposing team’s cups by lobbing or tossing a ping pong ball into the cups filled with water. When a cup is sunk, it is pushed to the side of the table. The game is over when a team sinks all of the 10 cups.

Pongball will be featured at Emmett’s Castle in Pearl River on Friday, August 23 at 8 p.m. and the Nyack Pourhouse in downtown Nyack on Monday, August 26, also at 8 p.m. On September 21, the World Pong tour will host the Super Pong event in White Plains, NY. To register for any pong events call the tour office at 914-437-5401 and for more information visit www.worldpongtour.com.
