Fourteen Years for Baxter

SPRING VALLEY MAN SENTENCED TO STATE PRISON IN KNIFEPOINT ROBBERY

Rockland County District Attorney Thomas P. Zugibe today announced that 30-year-old Andrew Baxter of 37 Memorial Park Drive, Spring Valley, New York has been sentenced to 14 years in state prison and five years post‐release supervision after being convicted following a jury trial of one count of robbery in the first degree, a class “B” felony and 10 years in state prison and five years post‐release supervision for his conviction on one count of robbery in the first degree, a class “B” felony. The defendant was also sentenced to serve one year in state prison for his conviction on one count of ciminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, a class “A” misdemeanor relating to a knifepoint robbery in Ramapo.

The sentences are to be served concurrently.

On June 26, 2012, Baxter and co‐defendant 33-year-old Paul Giddens of 12 Aeslin Drive, Spring Valley, New York, robbed the Pitstop Deli on South Central Avenue in the Village of Spring Valley.

During a three‐day trial in May, several witnesses outlined details of crimes.

Giddens was convicted of felony counts of robbery and a misdemeanor count of criminal possession of a weapon in April.

Supervising Assistant District Attorney Dominic Crispino prosecuted the case.
