Day Makes Hay in Fundraising Game

BY ARDSLEY POMONA

After a slow start and pernicious rumors that he simply didn’t have the chops to raise serious dough, incumbent county legislator and county executive candidate Ed Day has quietly stockpiled a nice stash. Helped by the fact that his Democratic rivals must each spend some of their loot in a primary, insiders say Day feels financially poised to make a strong run down autumn’s final stretch of the campaign.

Sources tell us that Day has more than doubled his campaign coffers over the past few months, with his account approaching the quarter of a million dollar mark. Sources also indicate that the business community has come around and committed increased money to his campaign, which critics had predicted would not be the case.

Day has found financial support from the “grassroots,” as well, including a multitude of Democrats who are crossing over to support him. However, don’t take our word for it, the public will know the full truth by this time next week, as campaign filings are due to be reported on July 15 and will be made available online shortly thereafter.
