If Only the Government was as good at managing the country as it was at acronyms.
The government’s ability to come up with impossibly clever acronyms is truly second to none. For example, did you know the new economic development initiative Start Up New York (SUNY) is purposely given those initials because it proposes tax-free zones around SUNY schools?
The PATRIOT Act actually is an acronym for Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism Act of 2001. The government named another anti-terror initative MATRIX: The Multi-State Anti-Terrorism Information Exchange.
We are impressed with the government’s wordsmiths. Now if they’d use the same clever thinking to cut costs, waste, corruption and free up the economy, we’ll all be on our merry way.
