River Vale police chase gets Suffern man 21 traffic tickets

FROM CLIFFVIEW PILOT: A 26-year-old Suffern man who never had a valid driver’s license received 21 traffic tickets from River Vale police following a wild chase into Pearl River during which they said he hit speeds of up to 80 miles an hour while swerving into oncoming traffic.

William Carey was clocked doing 52 miles an hour in a 35 mph zone on River Vale Road near the River Vale Country Club during afternoon rush hour last Friday, River Vale Sgt. John DeVoe told CLIFFVIEW PILOT this afternoon.

As the officer working the radar turned his cruiser around, Carey hit the gas of his four-door, 2003 Infiniti, accelerating into oncoming traffic to pass vehicles in front of him, before making an abrupt right onto Orangeburg Road, DeVoe said.
