Does Bloomberg’s Group Understand the Difference Between a Terrorist and a Crime Victim?

Assemblyman Kieran Michael Lalor (R,C,I – Fishkill) is calling on Mayor Michael Bloomberg to apologize for his anti-gun group, Mayors Against Illegal Guns, including Boston bomber Tamerlan Tsarnaev among a list of victims of gun violence.

“Tamerlan Tsarnaev was a terrorist, not a victim,” said Lalor. “He murdered three innocent people and injured scores more. The police officers who finally stopped Tsarnaev after the shoot-out were defending themselves and their city from a terrorist. It’s troubling to think that Mayors Against Illegal Guns doesn’t see a distinction between a dangerous terrorist and the tragic loss of life due to gun crime. Does their anti-Second Amendment agenda go so far as to say the police shouldn’t have guns to defend themselves from terrorists?”

Mayors Against Illegal Guns is sponsoring the “No More Names” bus tour. The New Hampshire Union Leader reported that at the Concord, New Hampshire stop organizers read the names of Americans “murdered with guns” since the Newtown tragedy. Tamerlan Tsarnaev’s name was read off as one of the victims of gun violence.

Lalor continued, “This exposes just how out of touch the radical anti-gun movement has become. Their protests aren’t about making us safer, instead, they are part of a far-left anti-Second Amendment agenda. Tsarnaev wasn’t murdered. He was shot after a bloody killing spree. If one of the leading anti-gun organizations doesn’t understand that, we’re not going to be able to have a serious conversation about public safety. Dead terrorists don’t deserve our pity and live terrorists don’t deserve our protection. Mayor Bloomberg needs to apologize.”
