Rockland’s Vershawn London launches new Fashion House of London event, has eyes on big time

Untitled-1The great fashionista Vershawn London of Spring Valley has been fairly quiet in the past five years, but no more. The czar of Rockland fashion says it’s times to make some waves and he has his eyes on the prize: turning his Fashion House of London organization into a pipeline for the broader fashion industry. He’s already seen several of his students make the leap and London said it’s time to build the dream.

To that end, London will be hosting one of his iconic fashion show on Friday, June 14 at Ramapo High School, 400 Viola Road, Spring Valley starting 8 p.m. sharp; The runway will come alive yet again as the Spring Valley NAACP Youth Council in collaboration with The Fashion House of London presents “HOLLYWOOD PREMIERE: Red Carpet Fantasy.”

London’s patented shows have attracted as many as 2,000 guests in the past. When London ran a fashion club at Rockland Community College in the middle of last decade it became the biggest thing on campus until it got so hot that authorities were concerned they could not control the audience and squashed his biggest ever show, deflating London’s movement.

The fashion guru has made self-improvement a main facet of his work. He is well-known among his students and fans for using fashion as a vehicle to increase young people’s confidence. His reasoning is, if you can walk the runway with pride, you can walk through the rest of your life with increased confidence. London recruits local people to be models for his shows and he does not discriminate based on age, color or body type. His shows often feature people five to 50-years-old showing off fashion items from local stores and designers.

London calls “Hollywood Premiere” a spring fashion show extravaganza. “Come share in this fourth annual show which will highlight some of the most fashion forward designers and store sponsors of Rockland County,” London offers.

Models for this event range in age from 4-years-old and up. London said he will “take the audience on a magnificent journey into the world of creative cutting edge fashion designs as his models strut down the runway boldly in an effort to live out their runway fantasies.”

As charity is always a key feature of London’s fashion shows, he donating proceeds from the event to the Spring Valley Youth Council.
