East Ramapo Only School Budget in Rockland Not Approved

All school districts in Rockland County have passed their budgets with the exception of East Ramapo where it was narrowly defeated 5,400 to 4,895. Most districts passed their budgets with votes in the range of 67 to 77 percent approval, but in North Rockland the vote was a bit closer at 1,600 to 1,115.

In East Ramapo, the slate of candidates endorsed by “the bloc vote” won election to the school board with MaraLuz Cora defeating Margaret Tuck 6,746 to 5,194, Pierre Germain defeating Eustache Clerveaux 6,539 to 5,035 and Bernard Charles defeating Robert Forrest 6,768 to 5,134.

The vote for school board in North Rockland was very close with Robert Masiello barely edging out Dian Cifuni 1,171 to 1,139. Former Haverstraw Village Deputy Mayor Ricky Sanchez received 608 votes while Harry Lefevre led the crowd with 1,676.
