Playground catches fire in Monsey

On Friday, February 22 at about 9:46 p.m., the Town of Ramapo Police received a report of a  fire at 26 Hilltop Lane in Monsey.

The officers found a structure located behind the residence engulfed in flames. It was later determined to be a large wooden play house/play set.

Monsey Fire Department arrived on the scene and they extinguished the fire. The damage was extensive. The cause of the fire is unknown at the time. The investigation is continuing.

The Ramapo Police Department is being assisted in its investigation by the Rockland County Sheriff’s BCI Unit and the Town of Ramapo Fire Inspector.

The structure was unoccupied at the time of the fire. There were no reported injuries.
