New City House Targeted for Gun Theft

POLICE INVESTIGATING POSSIBLE JOURNAL NEWS LINK

Updated at 1:30 p.m. and 6 p.m.

The Journal News gun-map has found even more controversy.

A house on Britta Lane in New City was burglarized yesterday, with two handguns, cash, jewelry and two gun permits among the items stolen, Clarkstown Police have announced.

The residence was one of two homes listed on the infamous Lohud gun permit map on Britta lane [addresses redacted in respect of homeowners’ privacy].

The two handguns were a .45 caliber Colt and a .22 caliber Iver Johnson. Clarkstown Police officially say any link between the map and robbery is still speculative.

A neighbor on Britta Lane, 20-year-old Adam Greenspan, told the Rockland County Times there had been unusual activity on the block in recent  months, leading his family to call police on more than one occasion. He said cars had been parking for hours a time without their drivers leaving the vehicle.

Over the weekend a home in White Plains on the Journal News gun map was also burglarized and an unsuccessful attempt was made to open the homeowner’s gun safe.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact the Clarkstown Police Department at 845-639-5800 or the TIPS line at 877-639-6233.
