Feedback intended for the Journal News that the Rockland County Times mistakenly received

In the wake of the interactive gun-map controversy, a number of persons mistakenly sent the Rockland County Times angry emails intended for the Journal News.
We here at the Rockland County Times have decided to publish these letters in the interest of showing exactly how the Journal News’ gun-map stunt made people around North America feel!
(Note—Most of the headlines were not provided and were added by the RCT editorial staff as per usual policy for Letter to the Editors. Those that are original headlines are in “quotes.” Also, most of the letter-writers offered their apologies upon learning they sent their letter to the wrong newspaper).

SAD, PATHETIC CREATURES

Pathetic. Hope you are sued and go out of business. I tell everyone about what you did. Very sad.

TRAITOR TO OUR FREEDOMS

Your paper chose to imperil the safety and violate the privacy of U.S. citizens. You have taken an anti-Second Amendment stance. This is not impartial reporting, this is your biased opinion! You are a hypocrite by hiring guns to protect you? This demonstrates you believe people are second class citizens and only a liberal news company deserves the right to protect itself. You will understand what you have done when someone takes away the First Amendment, because without the Second Amendment there will be nobody to protect your First Amendment right!

Anyone that advocates to debar citizens from their constitutional rights in any way is a traitor to our freedoms. They are to be punished as traitors and banished from this country! What type of responsible reporting is your paper going to do next? Follow women leaving Planned Parenthood and publishing their names as having abortions just because they went there? Publishing the names of those that go to a bar as public drunks? I can’t wait to see what you do next under the guise of responsible reporting. Please publish this in your “Letters to the Editor” section– now that would be unbiased reporting!

Regards from the great state of Texas,

Tom LaCour

APPALLING

What you did is appalling. Then you hire armed guards? You are agenda pushing hypocrites and a typical example of the liberal media. You should be ashamed.

You wont have the guts to respond with a meaningful statement so I wont hold my breath.

HOW STUPID ARE YOU?

I have heard that you guys are protecting yourself with armed guards. Armed? Protected? Why do you need to protect yourselves? Huh, kind of a funny thing, you protecting yourself with guns and all. This is what you are against, right?

The Freedom of Information Act is great. It keeps your job alive. Without it, you wouldn’t have one. Now, the Freedom of Information Act protects everyone. You, “being the publishers of this newspaper,”  actually abuse it. Putting what people own on a map isn’t very smart. How stupid are you?

I bet you feel safer. I now know where you all live because of what you did. Everyone at that paper. Do you feel safer? I can see your house now because of this. I don’t want to see your house, but because of your stupidity, I now know where you live. Do you feel safer now? I found out what you own. Do you feel safer? You are actually putting lots of people in danger. This also now includes everyone that works for the newspaper, including you two, the publishers listed.

I guess you need a good story. Here’s the headline of one. Anti-gun newspaper protects itself with guns. Sounds funny, doesn’t it? Lose the map and apologize to the American people for putting them in danger. Think before you guys publish sensitive material. I now know what you have, but I won’t publish it. It could put you in danger. I don’t want to have to do that. I’m smarter than that. I hope you are too.

Threaten my security? I’m not threatening anyone. If I was you, I would watch over your shoulder while at home, or at work. Just some advice from one to another. See how much safer you feel, you might want to buy a gun, it might protect you. Pull the map. If we want info on people, we can get it ourselves. We don’t need you publishing what we own. We could expose your life on the front page, with a map to your house. Then you will taste your own medicine. That could make a good story. What do you think?

VERY DANGEROUS MOVE

What  is next will you be publishing a list of everyone in Rockland and Westchester who has a legitimate prescription for pain meds, because pain medicine kills far more people every year than guns. Make sure to highlight the old and frail who have meds the junkies will rob and kill for. This was a very dangerous move. You should be ashamed of yourself!!  I would not use your paper to  house break a dog!

Typical media WHORE!!!

DAMN LIBERAL RAG

Shame on you. Another damn liberal with a printing press.  You should be ashamed of yourself as the publisher to release the names and a google interactive map of pistol permit holders.  What in the world did you think this would achieve except to cause trouble? The legal owners are not the problem, figure it out.

You are just as dangerous as the bad guys, but I’m sure you don’t quite see it that way, because you are an unusual bird. May this stand destroy what the Internet has not yet destroyed of your newspaper. Hail to the Internet for giving us the ability to obtain the names, addresses and phone numbers of those who run and manage your organization. God, I love technology.

“COMMUNIST”

I see that you believe people should not own guns, so you endanger them by putting out their information, but then you turn around and hire armed guards. You are promoting the Communist Agenda and don’t even know it, or maybe you do and just don’t care. Now all the criminals know exactly what houses to rob. I hope you get sued by everyone whose house is robbed. There is no longer one reporter in this entire country who I trust to tell the truth anymore.

“HOORAY FOR YOUR POSITION”

Dear Dylan,

I can’t thank you enough for displaying your hypocrisy so beautifully. I don’t have to explain to anyone but you, obviously, because virtually every single logical human can see how flawed your thinking is. Since you obviously cannot, let me make it very clear:

– By your publishing all of the legal gun owners residences, and making it clear in your editorials how opposed you are to gun ownership, you have staked out a position that by any rational thinking would prevent your organization from relying on guns to protect both your intellectual position as well as you organization.

– Hilariously, you cast your beliefs aside and embrace your protection by……..guns!

– Holy smokes, you and Rockland Times are the architect of the finest example of hypocrisy in many a year.

Naturally, it’s easy to predict your moral bankruptcy, and almost certainly the ultimate disappearance of your readership…..and by extension the bankruptcy of the Rockland Times itself.

Way to go!

OUTRAGE FROM MINNESOTA

Please come to Minnesota and do the same thing. The criminals will know who has a gun and could be waiting for them. I have already told my liberal neighbors that I will heed their wishes and not stop crooks but will call the cops and let them handle it!!! Everyone has to have a purpose in life even if it is being a bad example.

LIBERAL HYPOCRISY

Dear Editor,

I am rolling with laughter at your paper. How nice it is to print and mock all those people who are bright enough to be able to defend themselves, while believing you have the moral high ground. How quickly the shoe is on the other foot when it comes to your safety. I wish you no harm but you are the typical liberal bastion of hypocrisy. Like Bloomberg and all the others: ‘get rid of the guns,’ while they have bodyguards and you your armed security. Laughable. Crazy people do what crazy people will do.

SECOND AMENDMENT PROTECTS THE FIRST AMENDMENT

You get some negative phone calls and email and you have to hire armed guards. So you don’t have the guts to carry a weapon to protect yourself or others. Instead you use your money to hire someone for your personal defense.  You want to have someone with Second Amendment rights protect your First Amendment rights, LOL.

What a pathetic response.

MISTAKEN EULOGY 🙁

BORN 1888, DIED 2013: Obituary for your newspaper’s last headline. What a joke, hiring armed guards to protect yourself, and splashing all over your trash newspaper, law abiding Second Amendment rights to bear arm citizens. You’re a hypocrite and a sad excuse for allowing this.

###

YOU TWITS

What a bunch of irresponsible twits.  Now, how about publishing names and addresses of all the executives of the newspaper. Not so brave about doing that, are you?

Bill Denney

###

MALICIOUS

To the editor,

Although I am not a registered gun owner, I have a number of friends who are. I thank you for your misguided (and malicious?) publication of their names and addresses, since it will serve to protect them, albeit in a limited way. As I’m sure your research shows, the presence of legal firearms serves as a deterrent to those who would use them illegally. You have, in effect, sent a warning of sorts to those “bad guys” who might be looking (for example) to invade a home.

Of course, by so doing, you have also identified those homes that are not protected. If you are truly serious about this issue, why not also focus on criminal control? E.g., call for a mandatory jail sentence for those who use guns during the commission of a crime.

Sincerely,

Gary Markman

###

YOU HARMED INNOCENTS

Instead of printing private info on law obeying citizens, why wouldn’t you try to expose those who carry illegally. Now criminals know where to go to steal a gun(s). Nice work…maybe one day, one of those stolen guns that you so ignorantly decided to give to a criminal will do harm to an innocent person, or worse, innocent child. Guns don’t kill…people kill.

Kevin Eder

WAY TO GO

Nice of you to print a map of where criminals can break in and steal a gun. Why not print a map of rich people to go with it? Dumb asses. Oh and I am not a gun owner.

Sincerely,

William Miller

YELLING FIRE IN A THEATER

I do believe in the rights of a free press. But what you have done is yell fire in a theater. You gave the bad people in that area of the country a list of homes to break in into if they want to steal guns. Or made every one else a target that there is less of a chance they have a gun in there homes. What where you thinking?

DUMB-ASS

Thank-you for allowing the printing of residences of people owning guns! Now the criminals will know where NOT to go when robbing and KILLING your people of your city! See how many people in that area get victimized by you printing this!  You are a dumb-ass.

Ron Jeffries

MAY YOU PAY

I hope you are held responsible for ANY robberies that occur at the addresses that you published, you are despicable low-life people who have NO clue about your military and this country! Military are now polled to ensure that they will fire on Americans if ordered. Write that story, then go buy yourself a gun, learn to use it properly, and store it in a gun safe. Because crazy is out there, vicious is out there and thanks to you, they now have a list to use to get more guns! May you pay for what you have done.
