LACORTE CALLS FOR ROCKLAND ENERGY TAX REPEAL

PRESS RELEASE

Suffern Mayor Dagan Lacorte, a candidate for the 2013 county executive race, has called for the repeal of Rockland’s $14 million-a-year energy tax in a new television ad.

“Sky high energy costs are straining our family budgets and sending jobs out of Rockland,“ Lacorte said, “We need bold solutions”

Lacorte said he would repeal the energy tax, reduce government utility costs by 25 percent over four years and oppose the United Water Desal plant planned for the Hudson.

As Suffern’s Mayor, Lacorte said he has reduced the village’s energy bill by 15 percent by improving the efficiency of the sewer plant, competitively bidding the energy supply and investing in energy efficient infrastructure. Suffern utility costs went from $748,373.67 in 2010 to $665,257.75 in 2012, Lacorte said.
