HOMEOWNERS ASKED TO REPORT OBSTRUCTIONS TO COUNTY REGULATED STREAMS ON THEIR PROPERTY

The Rockland County Drainage Agency is requesting assistance in identifying obstructions to the fourteen County regulated streams. The agency averages approximately seventy to one hundred obstruction removals each year. Homeowners are urged to contact the agency if they observe any obstructions to County regulated streams on their property.

“Obstruction removals by our agency significantly help to reduce potential flooding to Rockland County residents and infrastructure,” said Vincent Altieri, Executive Director of the agency. “The Rockland County Drainage Agency is presently preparing for their semi-annual inspections of 14 County regulated streams. Approximately 80 miles of streams will be inspected for obstructions, erosion conditions and unauthorized construction activity.”

Residents are encouraged to call the Drainage Agency at 845-638-5081 to report any obstructions to County regulated streams. The obstructions will be included in the Drainage Agency Report and may be scheduled for removal.
