Two Important Public Meetings in Stony Point on October 23 and October 25

October 23, from 1 to 4 p.m. at RHO Building— A public meeting regarding the Champlain-Hudson Power Express, an electric line from Canada that would run underground along Stony Point CSX rail right of way.

Come out to learn about the proposed electric line that would leave the Hudson River at Stony Point Battlefield and travel along the CSX rail right-of-way, taking properties by eminent domain. The line will continue into Haverstraw and Clarkstown before re-enetering the Hudson River at Rockland Lake. The regular Stony Point Town Board meeting will also be held at 7 p.m. on October 23. October 25, 7 p.m. at RHO Building— The Stony Point Planning Board will hold a public hearing regarding the gasification “Waste to Energy” biomass plant proposed for Kay Fries “Holt” Drive.

Stony Point Planning Board will hold a public hearing for the applicant to make its presentation and the public to ask questions on Thursday, October 25 at 7pm at Rho Building. Stony Point Action Committee for the Environment (SPACE) leaders have met with the companies behind the project and SPACE believes this new technology has potential environmental and economic benefits for Stony Point.
