Armand Miele’s Book “Born Minus” Receives Honorable Mention at the New York Book Festival’s “Beach Book Festival”

Mr. Miele discusses his book with neighbor.

Rockland County Times Publisher Emeritus Armand Miele made a rare public appearance this evening at the Grolier Club in New York City, to accept an honorable mention in autobiography for “Born Minus: From Shoeshine Boy to News Publisher, An Italian-American Journey” at the Beach Book Festival.

The Beach Book Festival is a summertime ancillary to the New York Book Festival, “celebrating books that deserve greater recognition from the world’s publishing capitol.”

Mrs. Ofelia Esguerra Miele and Rockland County Times publishers Donna Miele and Ken Herndon were in proud attendance. Ms. Miele accepted the award and spoke briefly on her father’s behalf. “Like so many books honored here tonight, “Born Minus” offers a historical perspective that you won’t get from the mainstream,” she said. “Congratulations to all the honorees on getting your stories heard.”
