Downtown Revitalization Project on South Main Street to Begin

This week Clarkstown’s contractor for revitalizing downtown New City, Morano Brothers Corp., will start performing work on South Main Street for the preparation of Orange & Rockland Utilities’ installation of a new gas main southerly from Third Street to Route 304.

On Monday, workers will start saw-cutting the westerly side of Main Street and by mid-week excavating will begin. We anticipate work on drainage improvements to commence within two weeks on the easterly side of South Main Street.

Two way traffic will continue to be maintained on South Main Street during both phases of construction.

Supervisor Alex Gromack encourages residents to continue to give patronage to local businesses while construction is ongoing. “Access to all businesses will always be provided throughout construction. Please continue to patronize our local businesses,” he said.
