RAMAPO CRIME REPORT

Laurence Faust, of 3 Terry Lane, apt. 29, Monticello, NY, was charged with DWI (Leandra’s Law), Endangering the Welfare of a Child, DWI, DWI (per se) on 02/04/12 after Ramapo Sergeant Gumbs, while on patrol, stopped to investigate a hazardous traffic condition on New Hempstead Road. Upon further investigation he and PO Kane determined the driver of the vehicle.

Arlene Haaland, age 59, of Monsey, NY, was arrested by Ramapo Police Dept. following an investigation of a motor vehicle accident on Nelson Rd. in the town of Ramapo. A resident of Nelson Rd. called the police reporting that his parked vehicle had been struck by another vehicle. Investigating officers located Haaland slumped over in her 2001 Dodge Stratus. An open bottle of Bacardi rum was found in the vehicle. Haaland was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital ER for medical evaluation. She was arrested at the hospital and charged with NYS VTL 1192-3, Driving While Intoxicated.

Thomas Keenon of 53 New County Road, Airmont, NY, was charged with Driving While Intoxi0cated and issued a ticket for texting while driving on 02/04/12 after PO’s Eckert and Trojan, stopped his vehicle for texting and erratic operation. Upon further investigation it was determined that the driver was intoxicated.

Mr. Daniel Ronay, 54 years old, of Edison Court, Monsey, NY, was traveling southbound on Rt. 306 on 1/30/12 and struck a pedestrian, Epraim Lazarowitz, 29 years old of Francis Pl., Monsey, NY. Mr. Lazarowitz was complaining of pain in the area of his legs. A witness did observe the accident, and Lazarowitz did state that he did not observe the oncoming vehicle. He was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital by Hatzollah for further evaluation. Mr. Ronay was also present and was cooperating with police. No summonses were issued at this time, and the investigation is still ongoing.

Ramapo Police responded to United Stainless Steel at 201 Route 59 in the Hillburn Industrial Complex for a report of man who got his arm stuck in a machine. Upon arrival, officers were advised that a 38-year-old male employee had gotten his arm stuck in a coiling machine. The male victim was reported to have been feeding material into the machine when his left arm got caught and pulled into it. He had been freed from the machine by the time police arrived, and was immediately transported the victim to Good Samaritan Hospital. The victim did not appear to have any life threatening injuries, but did appear to have sustained a possible fracture or dislocation of his left arm/shoulder. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration was contacted and was sending out a representative to investigate the incident further.

 

SHERIFF’S REPORT

Date: January 3, Family Court Warrants Division, Haverstraw, Adrienne Walton, age 40, of Haverstraw, NY, crime: Violation Article 4, FCA-failure to pay child support VIOL. On January 31, subject was arrested on a Family Court warrant, held awaiting an arraignment in Family Court where she was released with a return court date of 04/02/12 at 1130 hours.

January 31, Family Court Warrants division, Village of Spring Valley, Erwin Bustamante, age 31 of Congers, NY, crime: Violation Article 4, FCA-failure to pay child support- VIOL. On January 31, subject was arrested on a Family Court warrant, arraigned in the Town of Clarkstown Justice Court where he was remanded to the County Jail awaiting a return court date of 02/01/12 at 9:30.

February 1, Family Court Warrants Division, New City, Anton Williams, age 41 of Haverstraw, crime: Violation Article 4, FCA- failure to pay child support –VIOL. On January 3 subject was arrested on a Family Court warrant, held awaiting an arraignment in Family Court where he was released with a return court date of 04/13/12 at 1400 hours.

February 2, Bench Warrant Arrest, Pomona, James Anis, age 23, of Spring Valley, arrested on following: Criminal Possesion forged instrument 2nd degree- felony; Certificate of Title Violation- Felony. Subject was arrested on outstanding bench warrant for the above charges.

February 2, warrant arrest/extradition, Location: West Palm Beach, FL, Thomas Sossi, age 46 of West Palm Beach Florida, crime: Grand Larceny 3rd degree, Felony. After subject waived his extradition hearing, Detectives from the Bureau of Criminal investigation took custody of the subject from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s office in West Palm Beach, FL and transported the subject back to the Rockland County Jail.

February 6, Warrant Arrest, 1 South Main St. New City, Ralph Cadet, age 41, New Hempstead, crime: Failure to Pay Child Support. After being contacted by detectives, subject turned himself in on outstanding Family Court arrest warrant.

February 9, Warrant Arrest, New City, Suzette Dubois, age 26, New City, crime: Petit Larceny. Subject turned herself in at Sheriff’s Patrol headquarters on 02/09/12. She was wanted on the above charged issued by the Town of Ramapo Justice court. She was arraigned in Spring Valley Justice Court and released pending a return date in Ramapo Justice court on 02/14/12

February 9, Warrant Arrest, New City, Douglas Gotay, age 42, of Washingtonville, NY, crimes: Criminal Sale of Controlled Substance- 4th Degree: Felony; Criminal Possession of Controlled Substance- 5th: Felony. On 02/09/12 the above subject turned himself in at Sheriff’s Patrol Headquarters and was brought to the county jail pending an appearance on County Court.

February 10, Warrant arrest, Clarkstown, Michael Ferzola Jr., age 30, Nyack, crime: Grand Larceny 4th. Subject arrested on a warrant out of Rockland County Court for the above charge. Subject lodged in Rockland County Jail awaiting a court appearance in County Court

February 14, Warrant arrest, New CIty, Christopher Coogan, age 21, of Stony Point, crime: FCA-8. Subject arrested on Family Court Warrant, Arraigned by Judge Warren and ROR’D.
