ROCKLAND COUNTY TIMES DONATES TO THOMAS J. FOLEY FOUNDATION

Rockland County Times editor Dylan Skriloff presents Thomas Foley's sister Joanne Foley Gross with a check for $200 in the name of the Thomas J. Foley Memorial Foundation. The money is being used to provide copies of the film made in her brother's honor to local high school libraries.

The Rockland County Times has followed through on the promise to donate to a local charity 10 percent of net sales from a special section honoring the 10th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terror attacks. The Rockland County Times donated the proceeds to the Thomas J. Foley Memorial Foundation, with the purpose of distributing the movie “Thomas J. Foley: Legacy of a Young Hero” to local high school libraries, thereby spreading his inspirational story.

Thomas J. Foley was a Rockland firefighter who perished while responding to the 9/11 terrorist attacks. A film about his life “Thomas J. Foley: Legacy of a Young Hero,” was produced by Anthony Fiore and featured in a premiere at the Lafayette Theatre last August. In addition to being a New York City firefighter who had once earned national attention for a heroic rescue mission, Foley was a model and actor who made it into major publications and earned roles as an extra in shows such as the Sopranos.

The Thomas J. Foley Memorial Foundation provides scholarships and grants to the children of firefighters and first responders, as well as providing grants to other non-profit foundations.
