YMCA UPDATES 2012 CAMP OFFERINGS

The Rockland YMCA is expanding its summer day camp program in North Rockland for boys and girls ages 5-13 years old.

“Our summer camp will have a variety of activities for all ages in a beautiful outdoor setting with convenient hours for working parents,” said Chuck Maze, President/CEO of the Rockland YMCA. The program will be held from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily from June 25 to August 17 at the Platzl Brauhaus in Pomona, NY. Activities will include: volleyball, miniature golf, softball, arts and crafts, team sports, group games and swimming in a large outdoor pool.

The program includes a nutritious luncheon and healthy afternoon snacks daily. There will also be field trips including hiking and boating. The camp will be directed by fulltime YMCA professional staff members who are certified teachers: Tyler Ilie, Physical Education Teacher and Lisa Bernardo, Special Education Teacher.

The YMCA also offers summer programs in its Nyack and Suffern facilities:

The YMCA Summer Teen Program offers recreational activities in Nyack and field trips for boys and girls ages 12-14 years of age. Activities include team sports, art, drama and swimming as well as field trips to state parks, museums and theme parks. The program also includes a Leadership Conference with teens from other YMCA’s and Communities. The program, which runs from 10 AM to 3 PM daily, from July 2nd to August 10th, is directed by Joeffrey Gardner, YMCA Youth and Teen Director. The YMCA Summer Camp in Nyack is conducted at its main facility for boys and girls who have completed kindergarten through fifth grade. Children participate in a variety of recreational activities, arts and crafts, cooking, sports, swimming and special events. The program is conducted from June 25 to August 17 in two-week sessions. The camp is directed by fulltime YMCA professionals and is supervised by other YMCA professional staff members. For more information about the program and how to register please call 845-727-1037.

The YMCA Summer Pre-School Program for children 2 ½ to 5 years of age will be conducted at the United Methodist Church at Parkside Church in Suffern. Children’s activities include: arts and crafts, music, creative play and out-door playground activities daily.
