RAMAPO COPS TELL KIDS “HAPPY NEW YEAR, SEE YOU IN COURT”

On December 31 at around 1:30 a.m. the Ramapo Police Dept. received a call reporting a fight involving a group of youths on the lawn of 3 Aron Ct., in the Village of New Hempstead. Officers arrived and discovered an injured party on the lawn with four to five other young men who appeared intoxicated.

The injured party was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital for treatment of some minor abrasions and a possible broken nose by Spring Hill Ambulance volunteers. The injured party stated he was fighting with a friend and refused to sign charges and was not cooperative with investigating officers.

Officers began an investigation and discovered that the all the parties at the residence were drinking alcoholic beverages at 3 Aron Ct., at a party hosted by the resident of the address. The resident, Conor Darvid, 20, was placed under arrest after evidence was discovered showing that he made his residence available for the consumption of alcoholic beverages by persons under the age of 21 years old.

Darvid was charged with the following:

·NYS Penal Law 240.45: Criminal Nuisance-Misdemeanor

·NYS ABC Law 65-1: making alcoholic beverages available to persons under 21 yrs of age- Violation

Darvid was released on an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Ramapo Justice Court on Jan. 12, 2012. He was turned over to the Town of Orangetown Police Department on an arrest warrant issued by the Village of Nyack Justice Court.

Others at the party were given rides home by guests who were not drinking alcoholic beverages.
