ARRESTS AND INCIDENTS RECENTLY REPORTED TO THE MEDIA BY LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT:

 

DA REPORT:

William Alexander, age 38, residing at 1102 Flatbush Avenue, Brooklyn, NY, was indicted on December 6, 2011 by a Rockland County Grand Jury for the crimes of Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument in the 2nd Degree, Attempted Grand Larceny in the 4th Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree.District Attorney Thomas P. Zugibe stated that on or about October 18, 2011, at approximately 6:00 p.m., at Best Buy in the Palisades Center Mall, defendant presented a forged non-driver ID card, in an attempt to gain access to and make a purchase of over $2,000, using another person’s Best Buy credit card account.  At the time of his arrest, defendant was found in possession of a gravity knife.

 

Donovan Bugbee, age 43, residing at 5 Pleasant Avenue, Suffern, NY, was indicted on December 7, 2011 by a Rockland County Grand Jury for the crime Driving While Intoxicated as a Felony. District Attorney Thomas P. Zugibe stated that on or about June 15, 2011 at approximately 12:54 p.m., an officer from the Haverstraw Police responded to the area of Westside Avenue and Route 202 and observed the defendant lying on the ground next to his motorcycle after being in an accident. The defendant was injured and was taken to the hospital where blood was drawn from him. The defendant’s blood alcohol content was 0.15%. The defendant admitted to drinking and driving his motorcycle. The officer observed an odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating form the defendant’s breath; he had glassy eyes and impaired motor coordination as well. The defendant had a previous DWI in Alpine, NJ in September, 2009.

 

Eduardo Calle, age 38, residing at 67 High Street, Chester, NY, was indicted on December 7, 2011 by a Rockland County Grand Jury for the crimes of Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 1st Degree and Driving While Intoxicated as a Felony. District Attorney Thomas P. Zugibe stated that on or about June 17, 2011 at approximately 2:54 a.m. an officer from the NYS Park Police observed the defendant pulled over on the side of the Palisades Interstate Parkway with the engine running. The defendant was asleep behind the wheel of his car. The defendant was found to be in an intoxicated condition. The defendant had slurred speech, glassy eyes and an odor of alcoholic beverage. The defendant failed four sobriety tests and his blood alcohol content revealed a .16%. On the date of his arrest the defendant’s driving privileges were suspended pending prosecution for another Driving While Intoxicated charge out of the Town of Goshen Justice Court.

Juan Curillo, age 45, residing at 2040 Independence Drive, New Windsor, NY
, pled guilty on November 28, 2011 to Driving While Intoxicated as a felony. District Attorney, Thomas P. Zugibe stated that on or about September 2, 2011 at approximately 5 a.m. on the Palisades Interstate Parkway in the Town of Haverstraw, the defendant was found to have been operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. Sentencing is scheduled for February 17, 2012 before the Honorable Charles Apotheker, County Court Judge.

Mario Eugene, age 21, residing at 2 Dutch Lane, Spring Valley, NY, Nicholas Sierra, age 23, residing at 145 Byrd Street, Nyack, NY, and Kenesha Kerr, age 18, residing at 727 Kennedy Drive, Spring Valley, NY, were indicted on December 7, 2011 by a Rockland County Grand Jury for the crime of Robbery in the 2nd Degree (2 counts). District Attorney Thomas P. Zugibe stated that on or about November 6, 2011 at approximately 9:30 p.m., while at Fletcher Road in Spring Valley, the defendants targeted the Planet Wings delivery man as he left for a delivery. Defendant Sierra held and choked the victim while Defendant Eugene took $8 and his cell phone. Defendant Kerr was the driver and drove away from the scene with defendant Eugene and Sierra. District Attorney Zugibe further stated that on November 6, 2011 at approximately 9:55 p.m. at Linden Avenue, Spring Valley, the defendants target another victim. Defendant Eugene pushed the female victim to the ground and took her purse and got into the car. Defendants Sierra and Kerr are both present and ready to aid defendant Eugene and drive him from the scene.

Wilhem Jean-Louis, age 20, residing at 27D Fletcher Road, Monsey, NY, was indicted on December 7, 2011 by a Rockland County Grand Jury for the crimes Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument in the 3rd Degree (3 counts), Falsifying Business Record in the 1st Degree (2 counts) and Criminal Possession of Forgery Devices (2 counts). District Attorney Thomas P. Zugibe stated that on or about November 9 and November 12, 2011, the defendant deposited two counterfeit checks into an account at the TD Bank located on 82 South Liberty Drive, Stony Point. The two checks totaled $8218.13. On November 22, 2011 at approximately 1:25 p.m., a search of the defendant’s home located at 27 Fletcher Road, Apt. D in Monday, revealed computer equipment and software adapted to create counterfeit checks and one counterfeit check and 79 blank checks.

Miguel Chinchilla-Mazariegos, age 46, residing at 13 Armstrong Court, Greenwich, CT, was indicted on December 7, 2011 by a Rockland County Grand Jury for the crimes Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd and 3rd Degree, Criminal Sale of Firearm in the 3rd Degree and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree (2 counts). District Attorney Thomas P. Zugibe stated that on or about November 22, 2011 at 106 Route 59, Spring Valley, the defendant fled from the police and was later apprehended. The defendant was found to be in possession of a loaded and defaced .22 caliber Ruger handgun, which he intended on selling and approximately 17 grams of cocaine.

Theo McCallum, age 66, residing at 95 West Street, Apt. 2, Spring Valley, NY, was indicted on December 7, 2011 by a Rockland County Grand Jury for the crimes of Assault in the 2nd Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th Degree. District Attorney Thomas P. Zugibe stated that on or about July 24, 2011 at approximately 6:25 p.m., located at 95 West Street, Spring Valley, the defendant threw a cup filled with bleach into the face of the victim. The victim was treated for chemical burns at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, NY.

 

Orlando Noriega, age 33, residing at 34 Tiger Lane, Port Jervis, NY, was indicted on December 6, 2011 by a Rockland County Grand Jury for the crime of Grand Larceny in the 4th Degree. District Attorney Thomas P. Zugibe stated that on or about April 18, 2011 at approximately 4:45 p.m., the defendant, in the course of his employment, and while cleaning the victim’s air conditioning ducts, stole, without permission or authority, a diamond tennis bracelet from the victim’s jewelry box in her bedroom. The diamond bracelet is valued at $2,000, and was subsequently recovered from the defendant’s work truck.

Baudilio Ramos, age 52, residing at 9 Johnson Street, Spring Valley, NY, was indicted on December 7, 2011 by a Rockland County Grand Jury for the crimes of Sexual Abuse in the 1st Degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. District Attorney Thomas P. Zugibe stated that on or about September 26, 2011 at approximately 11 a.m., a witness observed the defendant touch the genital area of a 3-year-old boy over the boy’s clothing. Once the defendant saw the witness he moved his hand off the genital area and to the boy’s leg. The parties are known to each other.

Rodrick Rivers, age 46, residing at 135 Sydney Avenue, Mount Vernon, NY, was indicted on December 7, 2011 by a Rockland County Grand Jury for the crimes of Grand Larceny in the 4th Degree and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 4th Degree.District Attorney Thomas P. Zugibe stated that on or about November 15, 2011 at approximately 7:15 p.m., the defendant was observed by the Lord and Taylor Prevention Officer place six watches in a Modell’s shopping bag and attempted to exit the store. The defendant dropped the bag when approached by the prevention officer. Clarkstown Police officers responded and placed the defendant under arrest. The total value of the watches was $1,685.

Allen Robinson, age 55, residing at 75 Janet Circle, Burlington, VT, was sentenced November 29, 2011, before New York State County Court Justice William K. Nelson to a state prison term of 6 years and 5 years post release supervision after pleading guilty to Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 2nd Degree and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana. District Attorney, Thomas P. Zugibe stated that on or about May 15, 2010 at approximately 2:05 a.m., the defendant was observed by a NYS Trooper unsafely changing lanes without signaling while traveling on I-87 in South Nyack. Upon a search of the vehicle approximately 647 oxycodone pills were found in a clear plastic bag. The defendant was also found to be in possession of marijuana.

 

Joseph D. Rutkowski, age 18, residing at 55 Livingston Street, Tappan, NY, was indicted on December 6, 2011 by a Rockland County Grand Jury for the crimes of Criminal Contempt in the 1st Degree (3 counts) and 2nd Degree, Assault in the 3rd Degree and Criminal Mischief in the 4th Degree. District Attorney Thomas P. Zugibe stated that on or about November 16, 2011, September 5, 2011, and September 4, 2011, defendant violated orders of protection in favor of his mother and father, and thereby caused physical injury to his mother, and damaged property belonging to his parents.

Curtis Tolleson, age 40, residing at 32 West Palisades Avenue, of Nanuet, NY, was indicted on December 7, 2011 by a Rockland County Grand Jury for the crimes of Driving While Intoxicated (2 counts) as a Felony and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of Motor Vehicle in the 1st Degree. District Attorney Thomas P. Zugibe stated that on or about June 8, 2011 at approximately 8:35 p.m., members of the Stony Point Police Department responded to a low impact traffic incident. The officers observed the defendant to be in intoxicated state and he failed a sobriety test and his blood alcohol content revealed a .12%.The defendant had a previous DWI in the Village of West Haverstraw in October, 2002.

 

STONY POINT POLICE DEPARTMENT:

Iasia Georges, age 19, residing at 139 Quaker Road, Pomona, NY, was arrested for Petit Larceny and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 5th Degree. The defendant was arrested following an investigation into a shoplifting complaint at the ShopRite of Stony Point where she is accused of stealing assorted grocery items, and possessing some. The defendant was arrested, processed, and issued an appearance ticket returnable in Stony Point Justice Court on December 1, 2011 at 9 a.m.

Joseph M. Hurley, age 18, residing at 15 Westshore Drive, Tomkins Cove, NY, was arrested for Robbery in the 2nd Degree and Burglary in the 2nd Degree. On November 11, 2011, the Stony Point Police Department responded to a residence in the Town of Stony Point where the victim advised officers that he was robbed at knifepoint inside his apartment. Upon arrival the defendant(s) had fled. Further investigation by the Stony Point Police Detective Bureau led to the recovery of the knife used in the robbery and subsequent arrest of the above defendant. Three other defendants were arrested on November 16, 2011 in connection with this incident. The above defendant was arrested, processed and arraigned before the Honorable Judge Frank Phillips and released on $1,000 bail and is to reappear on January 5, 2012 at 9 p.m. in the Stony Point justice court.
Jacqueline Zurla, age 25, residing at 90 Wayne Avenue, Stony Point, NY, was arrested for Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 2nd Degree following an unrelated complaint when an inquiry discovered an active Bench Warrant was on file for above defendant. The defendant was arrested, processed, and arraigned before the Honorable William F. Franks and released after posting $500 bail. The defendant is due to reappear on January 5, 2012 1:30 p.m.

 

 

 

 

SHERIFF’S ARRESTS

 

On November 21, Damian Rivera, age 35, from Middletown, was arrested on an outstanding Family Court warrant. He was arraigned in court and released to return to court on January 20.

 

Also on November 21, Kevin Phares, age 57, from Sloatsburg, was arrested on a Family Court warrant. He was arraigned in court and remanded to the county jail.

 

On November 28, Grant Valentine III, age 31, from Spring Valley, was arrested in New City on a Family Court warrant. He was arraigned in court and released to return to court on December 21.

 

On November 29, Christopher Hombach, age 45, of Nanuet, was arrested on an outstanding Rockland County Court warrant for Grand Larceny.  He was arraigned by Judge Nelson and was sentenced to jail.

 

On November 30, Maurice Hardy, age 28, from Spring Valley, was arrested in Cobb County Georgia for felony weapons and drug charges. He was wanted in Rockland on numerous warrants for the same charges. Hardy was brought back to Rockland, and is in the county jail, pending an appearance in court.

 

On December 1, Antonio Lopez, age 40, of Haverstraw, was arrested on Violation of Child Support. Lopez turned himself in at Family Court and was arrested on an outstanding warrant for money owed to Rockland County Department of Social Services. He was arraigned in court and released to return to Family Court at a later date.

 

 

 

RAMAPO

 

Yosef Ashlem, age 29, of Brooklyn, NY, struck an elderly woman on Dec. 4 at approximately 7:48 p.m. Ramapo Police Department responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle in the area of Route 306 and Calvert Drive in the Monsey area of Ramapo, and found a 62 year old female from Monroe had been struck while crossing the roadway on Route 306. No injuries were reported to the driver or any occupants of the van. The pedestrian suffered a head injury and was transported to Westchester Medical Center by Hatzolah Ambulance. The accident is being investigated by the Ramapo Police Accident Investigation Unit.  No charges have been filed at this time.

 

Melvin Jaquez, 30 years old, from New York City, was involved in a motor vehicle accident in which a pedestrian and building were struck in the Indian Rock Plaza in the Village of Montebello. On Dec. 2 at approximately 6:10 p.m., the Ramapo Police Department responded to the report of a motor vehicle accident, and upon arrival it was reported that a 2002 Ford Explorer, operated by Jaquez, had suddenly accelerated and jumped the sidewalk portion of the plaza in front of the stores and struck a 48 year old male resident of Montebello. The vehicle continued into the storefront of Moonlight Pediatrics located at 27 Indian Rock Plaza. The male pedestrian sustained minor injuries including lacerations to his head, face and arms and was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital by Ramapo Valley Ambulance. The driver was not injured. There were no reported injuries by staff or clients within the medical office which was still open for business at the time of the accident. The office sustained extensive damage to the front windows and doors, but no major structural damage was observed. The Ramapo Police Department was assisted at the scene by a Town Building Inspector. No summonses or charges have been issued at this time as the accident is still under investigation by the Ramapo Police Department.

 

Wendy Nodop, 43, of Wallkill, NY, struck a child pedestrian on the roadway in front of 419 Route 306, in the Village of Wesley Hills at approximately 12:55 p.m. on Dec. 3. Ramapo police received a report of a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle. Upon arrival, paramedics began treating the pedestrian, a 9-year-old boy. There were a large number of pedestrians on the roadway at the time of the accident due to the Jewish Sabbath. There are no sidewalks on that section of Route 306. The motor vehicle traffic was traveling at a low rate of speed, according to witnesses, due to the heavy pedestrian traffic. Hatzolah Ambulance and medics arrived and transported the boy to Westchester Medical Center for medical treatment. The Ramapo Police accident investigation team responded and began an investigation into the accident. No summonses were issued at this time awaiting the conclusion of the investigation. The pedestrian suffered leg and head injuries, but was alert and responsive at the scene.

 

 

Recently Ramapo Police Department conducted a combination of mobile patrol and sobriety check pionts on Rt. 59 in the village of Airmont between the hours of 2400 and 0400 hrs. The following arrests were made:

 

Michael R Grossman, 22, of Airmont, NY. Charged with PL 221.05 Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, a violation. He was issued an Appearance Ticket for a future court date.

 

Daniel P Vasilaky, 35, of Upper Saddle River, NJ. Charged with VTL 1192-2 (Operating a Motor Vehicle + .08 BAC) and 1192-3 (DWI).

 

Nelson Isaias Alarcon Quintana, 23, of Spring Valley, NY. Charged with VTL 1192-2 and 1192-3. Both Vasilaky and Quintana were charged with misdemeanor offenses. They were held at RPD pending arraignment.

 

 

 

CLARKSTOWN

 

Robert Simon, age 64, from Pearl River, NY, was arrested on Dec. 4 at approximately 1:40 a.m. after a Clarkstown Police Officer on routine patrol observed his vehicle traveling southbound on Rt 9W Upper Nyack in an erratic manner. The vehicle was stopped and the driver was administered a field sobriety test at the scene, which he failed. Simon was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he was administered a breathalyzer test, which he also failed. Simon was released on an appearance ticket later in the morning and will appear in Justice Court on January 3, 2012 to answer the charge of Driving While Intoxicated (misdemeanor).

 

On December 4, 2011 at approximately 8:20 p.m. the Clarkstown Police received a call of a possible individual leaving Chillie’s Nanuet in an intoxicated manner. The description of the individual and vehicle was broadcasted over the police radio. A police officer who was alerted to the possible intoxicated party observed the vehicle when it pulled next to his vehicle and asked the officer if it was OK for him to drive because he had been drinking. The officer observed that the individual later identified as Michael Trent, age 58, from New City, was in an intoxicated condition. Trent was administered a field sobriety test at the scene which he failed. Trent was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he was administered a breathalyzer test which he also failed. He was released later in the morning on an appearance ticket to appear in justice Court December 19, 2011 to answer the charge of Driving While Intoxicated (misdemeanor).
