SENIOR LAW DAY NEXT MONTH

Rockland County Office for the Aging (RCOFA) announced its next Senior Law Day, which will take place on Friday, April 20 at Dominican College in Orangeburg, NY.

This event is the third iteration of this important two-hour program which is presented in partnership with Legal Services of the Hudson Valley. Senior Law Day is free to the public, however registration is required. “We are delighted to roll out another session of Senior Law Day,” stated Tina Cardoza-Izquierdo, Director of RCOFA.

“Our goal is to bring this important event to all of the townships in Rockland County. We have already presented the program in the Town of Ramapo and the Town of Haverstraw.”

Panelists for the event include Rockland County District Attorney Thomas P. Zugibe; Sheeba R. Mathai, Esq., Legal Services of the Hudson Valley; Deputy Comptroller/Counsel for Investigations, Office of the State Comptroller Nelson Sheingold; and Sonia Burgos Crannage, Esq. Sichol & Hicks, PC.

“It is critical to teach senior citizens what they need to know to defend themselves from the latest scams,” said County Executive Ed Day. “Criminals think older people are an easy target. Let’s prove them wrong; come listen to what our speakers have to say.”

The event is targeted to both senior citizens as well as caregivers and family members who are interested in finding out information to protect themselves and their loved ones. Interested parties may call 845-364-2115 to register for the event, no later than April 13.
