GARNER ARTS CENTER ANNOUNCES NEW ED

GARNER Arts Center announced the promotion of Christine Olivier to the position of executive director.
Olivier respectfully assumed the position when the organization’s first executive director, James Tyler, moved into a role as a member of the Board of Directors. Olivier served as program director for GARNER Arts Center since July, 2015. Robin Rosenberg, founder and President of GARNER, is excited about the future of GARNER Arts Center with Olivier’s promotion to executive director.
“Over the past few years, in large part due to Christine’s work as Program Director, GARNER Arts Center has grown and expanded its programs, services and audiences” said Ms. Rosenberg. “We are eager to continue that growth and bring renewed energy and vitality to the Arts Center, the GARNER Historic District and to our community. We believe Christine is the right person to help ignite and realize our vision to encourage artistic ideas and collaborations within the creative sector, while attracting and connecting diverse audiences.”

Just prior to joining GARNER Arts Center, Olivier served as the Director of Programming for the Institute for Arts & Culture at Mercyhurst University in Pennsylvania where she was responsible for the programming and operations of 60-80 events per year across three venues while overseeing extensive re-branding and strategic planning initiatives.

While at Mercyhurst University, Olivier presented at Arts Reach Conference in Toronto & New York City on the subject of millenials and their interaction with the arts, served on multiple granting panels for the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, and contributed as a member of the Erie Community Foundation’s Arts & Culture Vital Signs Committee formed to oversee data collection and reporting goals for artistic and cultural vitality within the Erie region.

Olivier is a graduate of Ithaca College and prior to joining GARNER Arts Center has worked for Steppenwolf Theatre, American Theatre Company & Spoleto Festival USA.

“I look forward to continuing to serve GARNER Arts Center and our incredible community. It is my honor to be a part of such an exciting time in this Historic space” remarks Olivier. “I am committed to using arts & cultural programming as a driving force behind strengthening and supporting our surrounding areas. I hope to build on what we have, and continue to learn from where we’ve come.”
