NANUET STUDENT WILL PERFORM IN MUHLENBERG COLLEGE’S “MASTER CHOREOGRAPHERS”

Kyra Schmidt of Nanuet is one of 60 Muhlenberg College students who will perform in the college’s production of “Master Choreographers.”

An evening of ballet, contemporary dance, tap, and jazz, “Master Choreographers” showcases new dance works choreographed by nationally and internationally acclaimed guest artists and faculty. This season’s concert, which runs February 8 -10, will feature “It Happens Only Once… Yesterday and Tomorrow,” choreographed by renowned guest artist Tiffany Mills, the founder of Tiffany Mills Company.

Robert Johnson of The Star Ledger said of the choreographer: “Stealthy and filled with surprises, Mills’ work seems to tap the unconscious.”

The concert will also feature works by Heidi Cruz-Austin, alumna of the Pennsylvania Ballet; Karen Dearborn, artistic director and chair of the college’s dance program; Corrie Franz Cowart, co-artistic director of Co-Art Dance; Shelley Oliver, director of Shelley Oliver Tap Dancers; Jeffrey Peterson, former dancer with Danny Buraczeski’s Jazzdance; and Randall Anthony Smith, repetiteur and assistant to choreographer Donald McKayle.

Muhlenberg College’s Theatre & Dance Department is one of the top-rated college performance programs in the country, according to the Princeton Review rankings.
