WESLEY HILLS – The Antrim Players deliver yet another laugh out loud performance as they bring in the new year with “Noises Off,” a comedic play within a play written by Michael Frayn. The limited engagement shows the different stages of actors putting on a show, and is cleverly directed by Dana Duff.

The loud laughs that fill up the small Rockland County Theatre are a direct result of the slapstick comedy that is well delivered by each and every cast member.

A short synopsis may be needed to not confuse the Antrim’s player’s play about a play within a play. Are you following?

This three act show portrays a british theatre company putting on a sex farce, “Nothing On.” We are introduced to our characters in act one as they stumble the night before open in their final dress rehearsal. Into the second act, we jump about a month into the shows run, where tensions amongst the actors are high, and relationship are sticky. Ending off in the third act, “Nothing On” is coming to a close, and the show has fallen apart so much that the actors don’t even know where they are in the script.

Michael Frayn’s witty show can only go as far as the words he writes. The real comedy comes from the excellent acting and delivery of the cast. This is achieved by James Lugo as the director, Lloyd, Doreen DiBenedetto as Dotty/Mrs. Clackett, Larry Gabbard as Gary/Roger, Judy Tounsi as Brooke/Vicki, Damon Fischetti as Frederick/Phillip/Sheikh, Taylor Rose Rizzotti as Belinda/Flavia, Joe DeSpirito as Selsdon/Burglar, Kaitlyn Kozinski as Poppy/ASM and Harry Leavey as Tim/Stage Manager.

If you grew up as a part of your high school drama club at school, or ever have been a part of a theatrical production in anyway, this show will resonate with you on so many levels. Don’t miss your last few chances to see “Noises Off” before the limited engagement ends.
