Montebello buys land Rockland County seized from tax delinquent property owner

COUNTY PRESS RELEASE

New City, NY – Rockland County Executive Ed Day signed a resolution authorizing the sale of tax delinquent property from the county to the Village of Montebello. The property is essentially undevelopable because of how close it is to the Mahwah River so Montebello will use it to increase their green space.

Montebello Village Mayor Lance Millman said “Being able to preserve wetlands and increase green space with a passive park is all part of the village’s comprehensive plan. Working with County Executive Day and the Rockland County Legislature on this sale was a positive step for everyone.”

The property is located at 12 Marian Drive Montebello, NY and was sold to the village for $9,929.40, this amount completely covers the amount of taxes reimbursed by the County. This sale returns the property to the taxable assessment roll while preserving the wetlands and waterways of Rockland County.
