HUGE FIRE IN ORANGETOWN

The Orangetown Police Department responded to a report of a structure fire on Orangeburg in Pearl River NY on Monday Jan. 8 at 4:20 p.m. According to police, upon arrival officers observed the home to be fully engulfed in flames.

The Pearl River, Nanuet, West Nyack, Orangeburg, Montvale and South Spring Valley Fire Departments responded to the scene and brought the fire under control. JD Backhoe service responded and assisted the fire departments in stabilizing the home after the second floor continued to burn and became unstable, and the fire was fully extinguished at 11:30 p.m.

According to police, the fire appears to have started in a wood stove pipe and does not appear suspicious at this time. The female who was home at the time the fire began was taken to Nyack Hospital for treatment. A firefighter suffered a hand injury and was also treated at Nyack Hospital.
