TZHS CHORAL SINGERS PERFORM IN “THE SOUNDS OF CHRISTMAS” AT RADIO CITY

BY BJ GRECO

Members of Tappan Zee High School’s Concert Choir and Chorale performed a special holiday arrangement by music teacher Dr. Russell Wagoner in “The Sounds of Christmas” opening of the Radio City Music Hall Christmas Spectacular on December 15. Among the audience members were 45 South Orangetown Middle School seventh and eighth-grade chorus students (and 10 parents) from Mrs. Elida Peña-Carney’s class.

“Each year, I write a special arrangement of holiday selections for them to perform that makes it a unique experience for each group that attends,” Dr. Wagoner explains. This year’s medley, “Have Yourself a Merry, Merry, Merry Christmas,” featured “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” “Have a Merry, Merry, Merry, Merry Christmas” and “We Wish You a Merry Christmas.”

The performance marks the fifth year that TZHS musicians have been invited to perform in the Christmas Spectacular opening act. Radio City made a special recording of this year’s performance and photographed the ensemble for next year’s promotional materials.
