WMCHealth Introduces Heart Failure Program at Good Samaritan Hospital

Westchester Medical Center Health Network [WMCHealth] has expanded its cardiac services at Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, now offering Bon Secours Charity Health System patients from Rockland and Orange counties badly needed access to potentially life-saving emergency care.

Four board certified heart failure specialists from the nationally renowned WMCHealth Heart and Vascular Institute are now seeing patients at Good Samaritan Hospital, a member of the WMCHealth Network. The new Heart Failure Program physicians will work with referring doctors to optimize the care of patients with advanced heart failure and, when needed, rapidly evaluate them for life-saving therapies such as mechanical circulatory support and heart transplantation,WMCHealth leaders said.

Heart Failure Program specialists include:

Alan L. Gass, M.D., FACC, medical director of Cardiac Transplantation and Mechanical Circulatory Support at the WMCHealth Heart and Vascular Institute. He arrived at Westchester Medical Center 10 years ago after serving as the Director of Transplant Cardiology at New York’s Mount Sinai Medical Center.

Gregg Lanier, M.D., FACC, director of Pulmonary Hypertension and the Associate Director of Heart Failure, as well as the director of the Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology Fellowship at Westchester Medical Center.

Chhaya Aggarwal Gupta, M.D., FACC, who completed her residency at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C., and her cardiovascular medicine fellowship was at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock. She finished her fellowship in Advanced Heart Failure and Transplantation at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

Avi Levine, M.D., who completed his residency, cardiac fellowship and Advanced Heart Failure and Transplantation fellowship at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City.

Kathleen Brown MSN, ANP-BC, board certified adult nurse practitioner in critical care. She was the senior transplant/Ventricular Assist Device Nurse Pratitioner for over 20 years at the WMCHealth Heart and Vascular Institute.
