Antrim Playhouse opens 81st season with the hilarious musical comedy, “Nunsense”

WESLEY HILLS – The Antrim Player’s presents the hilarious musical comedy, “Nunsense” by Dan Goggin. The unlikely story of five Hoboken nuns that left audience in stitches is directed by Anthony Bragaglia and produced by Bridget Emsworth.

The nonsense of “Nunsense” is simple: The Little Sisters of Hoboken have come to find that 52 of their sisters are dead from an accidental poisoning from their head chef, Sister Julia. Unfit to pay for the proper burial of all these heavenly women, the remaining sisters decide to put on a variety show to raise money, because some of the dead nuns currently reside in the convent walk-in freezer. Through silly songs, to tap dancing, to important life lessons the sister’s leave their hearts on the stage to achieve this wild goal.

Our Little Sisters of Hoboken include Sister Mary Leo, played by Taylor Rose Rizzotti, Sister Hubert, played by Fallen Jean-Baptiste, Sister Mary Amnesia, played by Jasmine Canziani, and Reverend Mother, played by Barbara de Deo. But the standout star of both the variety show and the actual performance of “Nunsense” itself is Sister Robert Anne, played by Dianna Angelli.

Angelli stole the show with interpretation of the wild nun, Sister Robert Anne. With a soulful voice, and confident stage presence, you are instantly drawn to her. Her character’s wit, and dirty mind left the audience doubled over in laughter. Other recent roles for Angelli include Meg in “Crimes of the Heart” and Chiffon in “Little Shop of Horrors.”
